He joined the London-based social media platform in September 2020 as Head of Advertising and Communications. Gan, 37, took the top job after founder Tim Stokely left the company in December 2021, Insider previously reported. In August 2021, OnlyFans announced that it would ban sexual content, only to reverse its decision a few weeks later. Stockley’s departure comes months after the reunion.
After a short time with OnlyFans, Gan was a great option to become CEO. Ma Gan said her social background sets her apart from other tech CEOs. “There will be business leaders who went to prestigious Ivy League universities. They don’t answer. I am the complete opposite.” Gan told TIME in a July 2022 interview. Gunn did not respond to a request for comment from Insider.
According to Fortune, Gan was born in Mumbai and raised in Virginia. He currently resides in Miami but previously lived in Los Angeles. After graduating from California State College, she earned a BA in Public Relations and Organizational Communications. Jan later earned an online entrepreneurship degree from Harvard Enterprise School.
